Hopefully you have read my ‘About me‘ page and you will read about why I have started my blog. If you haven’t then never mind (no-one ever reads the small print).
So why…well for most of my married life both my husband and I were enjoying life; both had good careers and going on lovely holidays. Life was tikitiboo. Then BAM our lives were turned upside down with a Parkinsons Disease diagnosis. What the hell do you do with that? Little information, guidance or realities of the situation. No-one tells you what it REALLY is like; not just practically but emotionally too. Luckily enough life was not too different in the first year despite still reeling from a bombshell and knowing nothing about the disease let alone how to plan for the future.
Moving on another year things changed dramatically financially (husband had to ‘retire’ early due to not being able to do his job as it was a very manual job) but socially and domestically too. He was struggling to be able to do practical tasks, walk unaided, socially more withdrawn and noticeably his memory and cognitions were declining and then having to deal with a dementia diagnosis!! I hadn’t managed to come to terms with the Parkinson’s diagnosis let alone a Dementia one on top! How do you deal with this?
Things have changed dramatically since diagnosis and I will continue to share my journey as a carer along the way. I would also love to know how you all have survived your journeys too.
Thankyou for reading my first post.

Thanks for the ideas!
I love the idea of gifting pillow spray. That would be so soothing to someone in a care home!
These are such great ideas. I especially love the idea of gifts for their room and teh clear window feeders.
